Bio

 

Dr. Amit Sheniak is the senior researcher at the Hebrew University James J. Shasha Center for Strategic Research (SCSR) and serves as the Cyber-security policy coordinator and techno-strategy analyst of the Israeli Ministry of Defense (MoD) political military & policy bureau. He teaches as an adjacent professor at the Tel-Aviv University, the Riechman University and Israel' National art academy (Betzalael). Dr. Sheniak is a research fellow at the Hebrew University Cyber Security Research Center (HCSRC), the Truman institute for the Advancement of Peace and the Haifa University Center for Cyber Law & Policy (CCLP). He holds a MA and PhD in political Science from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and a Post-doc from Harvard University Kennedy School of Government program for Science Technology and Society (STS). In the past decades, he had served as a chief policy advisor and strategy analyst in various capacities at Israel’s parliament, the ministry of defense and the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF). His consultancy, research and publications, investigates the social and political context and effect, of emerging and disruptive technologies and innovation processes, specifically regarding advance digital infrastructures, cybersecurity conflicts and AI policy and their effect on international order, sovereignty and legitimacy in the Middle East region, USA and China.
