Call for Proposals for a Master's Research Fellowship in the Emerging Regional Arena

Policy research focused on the emerging regional arena in the Middle East, with an emphasis (but not limited to) on the intersection of security, economy, politics, religion, cultural identity, climate, and population, in relation to developments in energy, infrastructure, and innovative technologies (including traditional technologies, breakthrough technologies, and disruptive technologies), is being advanced by the James J. Shasha Center for Strategic Studies at the Hebrew University. The research will address the long-term implications and effects on Israel's policy, both in the lead-up to and following the potential establishment of new international arrangements in the Middle East.

The fellowship is intended for a Master's degree student from the Hebrew University only, enrolled in a research track, whose thesis topic is related to the emerging regional policy.

Successful candidates will receive a fellowship of 8,000 NIS per year (with the possibility of an extension for an additional year, subject to satisfactory progress in research).

Responses will be sent in March 2025 (funding can begin in April 2025).

The application must be submitted as a single PDF file, containing the following documents in the specified order:

  1. Research topic (in both Hebrew and English).
  2. Researcher’s details (academic affiliation, address, phone number, email address).
  3. Initial research proposal, including:
    • Abstract – description of the research (up to 250 words).
    • Expected contribution of the research to Israel's regional policy.
  4. Curriculum Vitae.
  5. Transcripts from both undergraduate and graduate degrees.
